Hi I’m Jennifer. I am Canadian and have been living in Switzerland since 2010. I have been blogging here (at yukonjen.com) since 2005. It has been one constant in my ever-changing life. It has personal stories, and a few articles I wrote for online magazines, and, after I got married, it became a repository for our favourite recipes.
I grew up at mile 906.8 on the Alaska Highway in the Yukon Territory, Canada. I’ve lived in the Yukon, Ontario, California, France, and I have settled here in Switzerland with my husband and family.
I love exploring the local foodie scene here in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (Suisse-Romande). I want to discover local products that you would only find at the markets or if you live here, what your neighbours raving about or where they buy their meat. Because, honestly, who can afford to buy meat at the Migros? There has to be a better way.
This site including the domain name was a gift from my friend Waitman. This site and all of its contents are copyright Jennifer Burke (also known as YukonJen). To quote JonnyB: “That’s proper copyright, none of your ‘Creative Commons’ internet hippie type stuff.”
